Ready for your best Winter skin yet?

Dry skin is a common problem, especially during Winter. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including weather conditions, harsh soaps, and dehydration, leaving it feeling dry and irritated. If you suffer from dry skin, don't worry - we're here to help! Keep reading for tips on how to look after your dry skin to keep it healthy and hydrated all winter long!

The first step is to rehydrate you skin, which can be as easy as increasing your fluid intake and drinking plenty of water. You should also try and avoid caffeinated and alcoholic drinks as they can dehydrate your skin further. Dry skin and dehydrated skin can be confusing, so if you can eliminate the dehydration you are already on your way to achieving better skin.

If you have dry skin that is not caused by dehydration, you'll next need to look into investing in a good quality moisturiser. You should also look for skincare products that have nourishing and preferably natural ingredients in them such as Hyaluronic Acid, Shea Butter and Aloe Vera. You can find these ingredients in our Kennedy Road moisturisers. You should always use your moisturiser straight after your shower. Moisturising helps lock in the moisture on your skin, keeping your skin hydrated.

A facial oil is also really beneficial for dry skin and lovely to use. Look for one which is made of nourishing and hydrating oils such as Jojoba, Gotu Kola, Seabuckthorn. Our Anti-Ageing Elixir is a potent and quality blend of these and helps to repair your dry skin.

Your diet is also really important to improve dry skin symptoms and needs to include a variety of fruits and vegetables. It's also important to eat foods that are high in Omega-3 acids. You can find these in Flaxseed Oil and Olive Oil as well as Chia Seeds, Walnuts and fish like Salmon.

While hot showers can be enjoyable in winter, these do nothing to help alleviate your dry skin. In fact, they can even make it worse. Try to have shorter showers and avoid using hot water – especially on your face.

Lastly, exfoliate regularly to remove the dead, dry skin and allow your moisturisers to penetrate better. Kennedy Road Exfoliating Crystals are in powder form, which allows you to mix them to your desired texture, which can be as gentle or as harsh as you require. You should exfoliate every few days to keep your skin looking and feeling its very best.

By following these simple skin care tips, you can keep your skin healthy and hydrated all year round. With a little extra love your skin can stay soft and glowing no matter how low the temperatures drop.
